Wood Working Projects-A Simple Idea

Are you struggling for ideas for your next woodworking project? Don't want to try something too big or too involved? Here's an idea that you were in during the weekend sting can.

The oak Beam coffee table

For this simple woodworking project there will be no screws, nails, joints or glue! The measurements for this project have to be exact, just get the measurements given here to customize your own preference. The materials you need for this idea are four feet of rough cut 120 mm x 180 mm kiln dried oak. This can be harvested quite easily the most lumbar metres, if you shop around you a pretty good deal. If possible get the lumbar yard to cut the oak in four equal one meter length.

From one of your one meter length cut two 430 mm lengths. choose a 6 inch side on each of your two 430 mm lengths and measuring 25 mm from both edges and draw a line. What we must do now is create a cutout on each of length 25 mm deep between the two lines. The best way to achieve this is with a router, but can also be done with a circular saw set to 25 mm depth by numerous cuts into the wood and finished with a chisel.

Once you have your clippings, place the two 430 mm length on the floor about two feet apart and submit your three one meter length about them sit in the cut outs.Arrange the meter length equal to a small gap between them.Because of the weight of the oak beams is no setting required. In order to keep the bars of moving from a small wedge or stick can be pushed into the holes, but this is not really necessary.

Finally, the oak use a belt sander with a medium grit belt. try and the bottom of the recesses for a reasonably high standard end up like this that your bars are square. My personal preference is to have the fresh sanded oak two layers of the Danish oil that the oak barrel improves. the end result is a rustic oak coffee table, which in the appropriate setting looks very attractive.
